Modern Elegance Meets Function: A Stittsville Kitchen Renovation

The clients came to us seeking a significant update that would maximize their workspace, improve lighting, and introduce a modern yet enduring aesthetic. The original kitchen was functional but lacked character and the efficient storage solutions a busy family requires. Our design team was excited to take on the challenge of creating a bright, open space that would become the perfect hub for cooking, socializing, and daily life.

A Foundation of Timeless Style

We started by installing classic white Shaker-style cabinetry throughout the entire space. The Shaker profile offers a clean, transitional look that is always in style, providing a beautiful backdrop for more dramatic design elements. To maintain this bright and airy feel, we paired the cabinets with gleaming white quartz countertops, offering a seamless, low-maintenance surface that reflects the abundant new lighting.

Functionality was significantly enhanced by maximizing the cabinet layout, creating deep storage drawers, and installing a convenient microwave cabinet above the counter. The ample storage ensures that every appliance and pantry item has a dedicated home, eliminating counter top clutter.

The Art of the Backslash: A Design Focal Point

What truly sets this Stittsville kitchen apart is its captivating use of tile. Moving away from the typical horizontal pattern, we selected a striking, textured dark blue-grey subway tile and installed it vertically, running from the counter to the ceiling around the range and high-end stainless steel hood. . This feature wall creates an immediate visual anchor, drawing the eye and adding incredible depth and sophistication to the room. The subtle, handmade-style texture of the tile catches the light beautifully, especially when illuminated by the new under-cabinet LED strip lighting.

Lighting and Detail: Polished Perfection

Beyond the main renovation, the details elevate this space to luxury. We introduced a layer of sophistication with three contemporary clear glass pendant lights installed over the peninsula/sink area. These fixtures, along with the numerous recessed pot lights in the ceiling, ensure the kitchen is always perfectly illuminated, whether the clients are prepping a family meal or hosting an evening gathering. The choice of sleek, stainless steel hardware and a modern, high-arc faucet completes the polished look.

Perhaps the boldest and most personalized feature is the patterned decorative floor tile. Finished in complementary shades of grey and white, this flooring adds an incredible layer of custom charm and character, grounding the bright white cabinetry and tying in the blue-grey backslash.
