The original kitchen, like many homes in this established Nepean community, was showing its age, offering limited storage and a layout that felt closed off and inefficient. Our mission was to open up the space, modernize the aesthetics, and create a functional, welcoming environment perfect for both everyday living and entertaining.
Stepping into the completed space, you are immediately greeted by a sense of calm and sophisticated modernity. The centerpiece of this renovation is the sleek, full-height cabinetry finished in a custom, subtle light green-grey tone. This colour choice is both on-trend and timeless, providing a soft pop of colour that beautifully complements the rest of the home. We maximized storage by extending the cabinets to the ceiling, including a striking run of pantry-style storage, eliminating clutter and establishing clean, uninterrupted sightlines—a detail our client was thrilled with. The minimalist silver hardware, a simple bar pull, offers a clean contrast and modern touch that makes every cabinet door a pleasure to open.
The material selection for the surfaces was crucial in achieving this clean, upscale look. We installed dazzling white quartz countertops featuring delicate gold and grey veining. This choice provides the luxurious appearance of natural marble while offering the unparalleled durability and low maintenance that modern families require. Complementing the countertop is the new backsplash: an elongated, glossy white subway tile with a slightly textured, handmade look. Laid in a classic brick pattern, the tile adds a subtle layer of visual interest and texture, perfectly bridging the gap between the soft cabinetry and the brilliant white counters.
Functionality was key in the design. We incorporated a deep stainless steel sink paired with a high-arc, pull-down faucet, making dishwashing and prep work a breeze. The overall flow of the galley-style kitchen was meticulously planned to optimize the work triangle, leading naturally into the bright dining area, which is illuminated by a stylish, industrial-chic pendant fixture.
Finally, we anchored the design with durable, wood-look plank flooring in a muted grey tone. This flooring not only provides a warm, natural element but also connects the kitchen visually to the adjacent spaces, making the entire area feel larger and more cohesive.
