Tips for choosing Bathroom Fixtures

Bathroom Fixtures, the good, the bad, the Extremely Expensive

The other day I had a conversation with one of our customers who signed up for a full bathroom renovation and was in the process of selecting bathroom fixtures.  She was asking for our help to select proper fixtures to make sure she doesn’t overspend. But at the same time gets a good quality items that will serve for a long time and yield the best return on investment (essentially not cheap that will make the entire bathroom renovation project a waste of money). This is actually a rather common thing we deal with on a weekly basis. Probably every other customer goes thru more or less the same dilemma.

So the in general, I suggest to our customers to stay away from cheap  items that sometimes are found on sale in one of the big box stores. If you are spending a significant amount of money renovating your bathroom, the last thing you want is to have a vanity that looks like you picked up on a garage sale, or a bath tub that will crack in less than a year and then it needs to be pulled out together with all the tiles above it.

It is a good idea to spend some time and find things that work together and that you like. In most cases Lowe’s offers great variety of bathroom fixtures and accessories that can satisfy most renovations, whether it’s on budget or more elaborate project. With that in mind you can also go overboard and spend more than you need to by ordering custom made vanities and special order tiles. There’s nothing wrong with doing that, if your house supports the value of larger bathroom expenditure, but if the house value and the area dictates certain budget, I’d highly recommend making your selection using stock sizes and stock items. What do I mean by that? Well, for example, let’s say you have a space for 65” vanity. You can go and order that as a custom vanity and pay $1500 or more for that. Or you can step down to in stock 60” vanity and save $1000 right there.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to have entire project work together. Your flooring tiles to be a good match with your vanity, your wall tiles to work well with floor tiles and wall colors etc.
